WVAMA Member Directory Photos
As an exclusive benefit to WVAMA members, member Jay Thompson of Photographic Solutions has volunteered to create a free portrait for each member. There is no cost or obligation to purchase, nor will you be pressured to purchase anything. If you’d rather use an existing photo of yourself for the member directory, please send your photo to Jay for posting in the WVAMA resource area. Here is a sample gallery of portraits of Mark Tschetter, incoming WVAMA President.
The process is simple: If you want a professional portrait taken of yourself, simply contact Jay and he’ll schedule an appointment with you, at your home or office. Jay will take several photos of you at your desired location. Expect this to take between 30 and 60 minutes. Jay will provide you and the WVAMA communications team with a link to a private online gallery of his recommended poses.
You are free to use your digital portraits for personal or business uses. Images will be provided for no cost in sizes up to 1600 pixels in the longest direction. If you need higher resolution, or a high-quality print suitable for framing, these are available for a discounted fee from Photographic Solutions. Contact Jay for details.
Co-worker Photos
If you have co-workers who would also like to have a portrait taken, even though they are not WVAMA members, special pricing is available. They can purchase the same product that you get for free, for a special price of $50.00—if the photo is taken at the same location and time as your appointment. If another time or location is required, the price is $75.00. Just like you, they get portraits at up to 1600 pixels in size—suitable for any online application, or for print sizes 5 x7 or under. Higher resolution images, or high-quality prints are also available by contacting Jay.
Sponsoring Firm Photos
As a thank-you to WVAMA’s corporate sponsors, Jay will also offer to take a selection of photos of the facility or company leadership for use in WVAMA printed and online publications at no cost to the sponsor. Images suitable for online use will be provided to the company and WVAMA staff. Full resolution images are available for a fee. Contact Jay for details.
Guidelines for your Photo Session
To get the most pleasing portrait, follow these guidelines:
- Hair: if possible, have your hair trimmed/styled within a week before your appointment. Men, remember to shave or trim facial hair.
- Makeup: if you do use makeup, keep it light, as you would in the office.
- Clothing: we recommend your normal office attire, as you would be seen in your business role. Please avoid pure white or black shirts/blouses. Patterns are okay, but avoid really loud or distracting shirts. Avoid logo wear, unless it’s part of your work uniform. The photos can be either head/shoulders or full body, so do consider your full attire.
- Jewelry: keep jewelry to a minimum, to avoid distracting sparkles.
- Eyeware: it’s fine to wear your normal glasses, but please, no sunglasses.
- Location: private offices, board/meeting rooms, and cubicles are all acceptable locations, as long as you won’t be self-conscious about your co-workers seeing you. If you’re not comfortable inside the office, outside your office or building may also be a fine location. Your home/yard, or local park are also acceptable venues. Please let Jay know about your preferences.
